As daily attendance is a necessity for academic achievement, please understand that the following policy is in place with only the best interest of your student in mind.

1. Students who accumulate more than 10 absences a semester of any type excluding medical will result in medical only status. At that point, any absences not excused by a competent medical provider will be unexcused and result in failing grades for the work missed.

This icon will appear in Focus at medical absence only status.

2. Lunch and Parking Passes can be pulled at more than 10 absences in a semester excluding medical.

3. Privileges like field trips and events (Homecoming, Prom, Grad Bash) can be denied after more than 10 absences in a semester excluding medical.

4. Parents must sign students out at the attendance office in person for any appointments during the lunch period.

Our Early Truancy Intervention Team (ETIT) will collaborate with parents and students to offer incentives and develop a plan to resolve patterns of non-attendance. In addition, offering dynamic student-centered instruction promoting engagement in learning will continue to be a top priority at SCHS. Students need to be in the classrooms as often as possible to achieve learning gains and prepare for the demands of the career world.
