The Educational Plant Survey
The purpose of an Educational Plant Survey is to aid in formulating plans for housing educational activities of students and staff of the school district for the next several years. The intent of a regualr, formal Educational Plant Survey is to encourage the thoughtful, orderly development of a program for providing educational and ancillary plants to adequately house the educational and academic support activities of the district.

The 5-Year Work Plan
The 5-Year Work Plan is reviewed annually. The Department of Education, Legislature, Governor's Office, Division of Community Planning, local governmental agencies and others, use the work plan information for various needs, such as, funding, planning, and as the authoritative source for school facilities related information. The School Board's plan must meet the needs of all growing communities in the district to provide new schools, ranging from small rural communities to large urban cities.

Florida Inventory of School Houses (F.I.S.H.)
The Florida Inventory of School Houses (F.I.S.H.) is the electronic database created and supported by the Office of Educational Facilities (OEF) to provide record keeping capabilities for all districts' facilities. The recorded data elements encompass a wide range of information - school spaces are recored by facility, parcel, building, and room number; design use; square footage; floor covering; exterior wall covering; portables owned or leased, year constructed, etc.

F.I.S.H. Student Stations
The number of students that can be housed in the permanent portion of a school as determined by the design criteria defined in the State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF).

Utilization Survey
The goal of this analysis is to show the number of students the school can accommodate and instruct in the way that each school's Principal has implemented their programs. This number is the Functional Capacity of the school. Each school will be analyzed on an annual basis with input from each school principal. Annual reviews are necessary as fluctuations in enrollment and implementation of programs occur annually, resulting in differing utilization of spaces. The Utilization Survey helps with the Planning Department's Functional Capacity Report, Curriculum Capacity Reports, Co-Teach/Teachers on a Cart, space reconfigurations, recommendations for portables, planning the opening of new facilities, placement of new programs, and redistricting.

Functional Capacity
The true number of students that can be housed and instructed in the permanent portion of a school. Functional Capacity, like permanent F.I.S.H. Capacity, is facility driven, but also accounts for programs implemented in each school. Functional Capacity typically reflects a more realistic accounting of the use of space on each campus.
