What is a Magnet school? 

Magnet schools and magnet programs offer a specialized curriculum to students outside the school’s normal attendance boundaries. These programs may include a particular theme or focus, such as mathematics, science, technology, communications, business, or performing arts. A magnet school is defined as an elementary, middle, or high school that offers, to all students enrolled in that particular school, a special curriculum capable of attracting substantial numbers of students of different social, economic, ethnic, and racial backgrounds. Magnet programs differ slightly from a magnet school as the special curriculum is offered to a cohort of students instead of the entire school. Magnet schools may require an additional application for admission.

The School District of Osceola County is proud to be home to three high-performing magnet schools. 

Professional and Technical High School is a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence ranked as one of the best high schools in Florida by the US News and World Report Ranked. PATHS is a comprehensive accelerated school that engages students in rigorous academic coursework aligned with a career pathway. This acceleration allows students to earn their high school graduation requirements earlier, freeing time to focus on their oTECH program and Valencia College Dual Enrollment.  A School Choice Application, Teacher and Recommendation Forms, and a Magnet Application are required for acceptance consideration for PATHS.  

Osceola County School for the Arts (OCSA) is founded on the parallel learning and cross-disciplinary values of academic rigor and artistic enterprise. In addition to high-quality, classical training in their chosen arts area, our OCSA artists develop an innovative spirit and creative confidence from collaborative inquiry and performance-based learning. At OCSA, we value the intellect behind the arts, as well as the art of intellect. OCSA artists are engaged contributing citizens and advocates of the arts in thought, word, and deed. OCSA won first place in the 2022 and 2023 Essentially Ellington Jazz Competition and has a 100% graduation rate.
