Student Group: 10th and 11th Grade Students

The test helps prepare our 10th and 11th grade students for the SAT, college, and careers.  Historically, students who take the PSAT/NMSQT score higher on the SAT, on average, than those who do not take the test.  The following are other key benefits of the PSAT/NMSQT:

    • Grade 10/11 pre-college testing in an indicator of performance on the SAT or ACT.
    • The PSAT/NMSQT includes reading, mathematics, and writing anad language components that focus on the knowledge and skills that are most essential for college and career readiness and success; it is also used as a diagnostic tool to measure and follow student performance and pinpoint areas for development.
    • Test results provide high school guidance counselors with information to help identify student's potential for academic success at the post-secondary level.
    • It provides students with better access to data and personalized study through the online CollegeBoard and Khan Academy resources.

CollegeBoard also offers a Student Search Service, which all students are able to opt-in to during the PSAT/NMSQT.  This will allow students to connected with colleges and scholarship partners -- there's over $300 million in scholarships available.  Lastly, eligible students who take the PSAT/NMSQT may be invited to one of the CollegeBoard National Recognition Programs, an academic honor they can include in college applications.

Please be on the lookout for a letter to be sent home to every 10th and 11th grade student that will tell you your testing location so you know where to report to on test day.  But don't worry, we will have plenty of staff on hand the morning of the test as well in case you need some extra help.
