Florida's State Educator Disaster Relief Payments Information

  • In recognition of the dedication, hard work, and sacrifices made by Florida's full-time classroom teachers, school principals, and early learning instructors during the COVID-19/ Coronavirus pandemic and the 2020-21 school year, the State of Florida has begun the distribution of the disaster relief payments of $1,000 as authorized in Senate Bill 2500, General Appropriations Act (GAA), Section 46 (Chapter 21-036, Laws of Florida, at p. 436) for the 2021-22 school year, which was approved by the Governor on June 02, 2021.

    Eligible individuals include those who were employed as one of the following in a Florida public school district or charter school as of June 02, 2021, or on the last day of school, whichever date is better for the recipient:

    • Full-time K-12 classroom teachers;
    • Certified Pre-Kindergarten teachers [who were funded by the Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP)]; and
    • School Principals [Per state law, Assistant School Principals are not eligible for disaster relief payments under this program.]

    These payments from the State of Florida shall be mailed directly to the recipients via U.S. Mail during the month of August 2021.
