IN-SCHOOL SUSPENSION
The in-school suspension will be utilized as a program to guarantee a continuation of a student’s educational opportunity without switching the burden of supervising that student to the community.
The following guidelines will be used in cases involving in-school suspension:
- Students will be informed as to the reason for the assignment and given the opportunity to respond prior to placement.
- Parents will be notified in cases where students have been assigned to the Internal Suspension Room.
- Students will be monitored while serving an internal suspension.
- Schoolwork will be provided for students housed in the Internal Suspension Room.
- An informal hearing will be required for any assignment that exceeds 10 consecutive days.
- All school administrators or their designees have the authority to assign Internal Suspension.
