Q: How long is a semester?
A: Our semesters are as follows: August through December, January through May, and we also offer summer courses that start the beginning of June through the end of July. To see the specific dates, please refer to the School District of Osceola County's ACADEMIC CALENDAR
Q: What are the class times?
A: Our face-to-face and online/virtual class times are Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 11:00 am, Monday through Friday 11:45am - 2:45pm and on Tuesday and Thursday evenings 5:30pm - 8:30pm. Please refer to our PROGRAMS page to see the specific times at each location.
Q: Where can I take classes?
A: Our two main campuses are in Kissimmee, Florida off of Simpson Road and in Poinciana, Florida off of Cypress Parkway. We also hold English classes in the evening at Celebration High School and Kissimmee Middle School, and GED classes at the St. Cloud OTech campus. For exact locations, please refer to our PROGRAMS page.
Q: Are classes offered online?
A: Yes, all classes are currently offered online as well as face-to-face. GED courses are always offered online.
Q: What other fees are involved with taking classes at ALCO?
A: For ESOL, there are no additional fees. No books or materials will need to be purchased; it is included in your semester fee. For GED, you will be required to purchase your GED exams.
Q: What is the cost of the GED?
A: The GED consists of 4 sections - Each section of the exam costs $32. As a student at ALCO, you are eligible for test vouchers to help pay for these costs.
