    PRINCIPAL

Greetings Jaguars & Welcome to the Final Countdown!

The Jaguar Nation is bustling with excitement as students enter the 4th and final quarter of the 2024-2025 school year. The Home Stretch! Teachers have begun reviewing content from Q1, Q2, & Q3, spiraling back daily to activate prior knowledge. The goal is to maximize every minute of our valuable face time with students, in an effort to properly equip them with the skills and confidence necessary for them to succeed. The goal is level 3 or more, on the upcoming administration of FAST PM3.

The State of Florida considers students to be on grade level if they score at least a level 3. Proficient with grade level standards requires a level 4 on PM3 in the Spring.

Level 1= Substantially Below Grade Level

Level 2 = Below Grade Level

Level 3 = On Grade Level

    Level 4 = Proficient

    Level 5 = Exemplary

While we recognize a level 3 may not be attainable YET, for some learners, the goal is for students to grow one full level each school year, narrowing that achievement gap until they are on grade level LVL 3! We are equipped with a comprehensive blueprint of principles and values which will propel us towards measurable results for all learners. We invite you now to join us on this exciting journey, as we continue the heavy lifting of guiding our Jaguars through these pivotal middle school years. Please remember you are not alone. We have a team of dedicated teachers, administrators, and professional support staff members committed to helping your child every step of the way!

     Important Reminders:

    1)     Review your child’s PM2 score regularly. Set aside time for daily practice and study sessions to ensure success this quarter.

    2)     Check your child’s FOCUS gradebook weekly to ensure they are completing their schoolwork in a timely manner. Please remember students must successfully pass each of the four core subjects English, Math, Science, and Social Studies to be considered for promotion to the next grade level.

    3)     Attendance matters! It is imperative that your student be in school, ready to learn every day. A missed school day is a lost opportunity for students to learn.

    4)     Please ensure your child is dressed for success each day, in compliance with the District and School dress code. At KMS, the uniform polo shirts are determined by grade level:

    · 6th Teal Blue

    · 7th White

    ·  8th Black

    Upcoming Dates:

March 3: STAR Testing via IR/Research/ELD
March 6: Celebration High @ KMS to schedule 8th graders
March 10-14: Spring Break Spirit Week $5 wristband
March 13: Staff vs. Student Bball Game 7th Period
March 14: End of 3rd QTR.
March 17-21: Spring Break - No school
March 24: Teacher Workday. No Students
    March 25 & 26: STAR Testing Math
March 26: Dual Language Presentation for Prospective Students 3:30pm Media Cntr.
    April 28: Student/Teacher Holiday

Parents, we know you have a choice when it comes to your child’s education and we thank you for choosing Kissimmee Middle School.

See you at the finish line,

    Monique Machado,

    Proud Principal
